Turnovers the Key as Army Loses to Rutgers

Rutgers forced Army into three turnovers, and Joe Martinek rushed for 139 yards, as the Scarlet Knights posted a 27-10 win over the Black Knights.
Army is now 3-5 and still needs three more wins to clinch a berth in the 2009 EagleBank Bowl.
In the ACC, Florida State squeaked by North Carolina, 30-27, picking up its first conference win. Georgia Tech hammered Virginia, 34-9, while Duke inched by Maryland, 17-13.
Clemson shocked Miami, 40-37, in overtime. Navy avenged its loss to Wake Forest in the 2008 EagleBank Bowl, this time defeating the Demon Deacons, 13-10.
Boston College hung close but lost to Notre Dame, 20-16.
In Conference USA action, UTEP beat Tulsa by four points, 28-24. Marshall had no problem with UAB, winning 27-7.
UCF destroyed Rice, 49-7. Southern Mississippi whipped Tulane, 43-6. Houston easily handled SMU, 38-15.
Week 8 Player of the Week
Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder threw for a career-high 395 yards and three touchdowns, as the Seminoles rallied from a large second-half deficit to beat North Carolina, 30-27.
Week 8 Upset of the Week
Clemson pulled off the biggest surprise win, defeating Miami in overtime, 40-37.
